Broncos Women's Volleyball Preview: Returners Highlight This Year's Roster
The 2021-22 Broncos Women's Volleyball program may be the most talented yet as it features 12 returning student-athletes who have trained at the collegiate level to go along with four newcomers.

The 2021-22 Broncos Women's Volleyball program may be the most talented yet as it features 12 returning student-athletes who have trained at the collegiate level to go along with four newcomers.
Returners
Avery Gammel returns for her fourth year with the burgundy and gold. The 6'0" setter from West Kelowna, BC native comes into this season with 1073 assists, 337 digs, and 54 service aces through out her career with the Broncos thus far.
Tabitha Martin suited up for the Broncos during the 2019-20 season, her first since transferring from Mount Royal University. The 6'0" outside hitter from Delacour, AB totalled 209 kills and 203 digs during that season and looks to bring leadership into her fourth year.
Francesca Sandini arrives back in Mountain View County for her second year of eligibility but third year with the program. The 5'9" libero from West Vancouver, BC has tallied 302 digs and 32 assists during her one season suiting up for the Broncos.
Samantha Laboucan returns to the Broncos after taking the 2020-21 Covid-19 season off. The 5'9" outside hitter from Atikameg, AB has tallied 128 digs and 68 kills while suiting up for the burgundy and gold from 2018-20.
Georgia Loucks arrived at Olds College prior to the 2019-20 season. During that season, the 6'1" outside hitter from Calgary, AB played in 13 matches totalling 5 kills, 1 dig, and 1 service ace.
Searra Schoepfner returns to the Broncos for her second year of eligibility but third year with the program. The 6'1" middle blocker from Mirror, AB recorded 128 kills, 32 digs, and 29 service aces during the 2019-20 season.
Natoni Young joined the Broncos at the beginning of the 2020-21 Covid-19 season. The 6'0" middle blocker from Edmonton, AB played her high school volleyball at M.E. LaZerte School.
Lexi Lafreniere will be entering year two with the Broncos but 2021-22 will be her first official year of eligibility. The 5'7" setter from Calgary, AB previously played her high school volleyball at James Fowler High School.
Sarah Merkosky came to Olds College in 2020-21 via Chestermere High School where she played her high school volleyball. The 5'7" libero/outside hitter calls Chestermere, AB home.
Kendyl Lengyel enters year two with the Broncos as she trained with the program last year during the Covid-19 season. The 5'4" libero played her high school volleyball at Catholic Central High School in Lethbridge, AB.
Sydney Spillman returns to the Broncos for her second year with the program. The 5'8" outside hitter from Coaldale, AB played her prep volleyball at Kate Andrews High School prior to joining the Broncos.
Averi Gill joined the Broncos prior to the start of the 2020-21 Covid-19 season. The 5'11" middle blocker from Armstrong, BC played her high school volleyball at Pleasant Valley Secondary School.
Newcomers
Madison Macaulay joins the Broncos as one of the four newcomers this year. The 5'6" setter from Claresholm, AB spent her high school volleyball career at Willow Creek Composite High School.
Sydney Joyce joins the Broncos as a true freshman, arriving on campus from Dodsland, SK. The 5'10" outside hitter played her high school volleyball at North West Central School in Plenty, SK.
Alicia O'Keefe arrived in Broncos Country prior to the 2021-22 season. The 5'10" middle blocker/outside hitter from Strathmore, AB prepped at Stratmore High School prior to joining the Broncos.
Kate Sherman comes to Olds College via Louis St. Laurent High School where she played her high school volleyball. The 5'9" outside hitter calls Edmonton, AB home.
