Broncos Riders Show Out at Olds College Fall Rodeo
The Brawn Family Arena saw an influx of fans this weekend for the first time in two years as the Broncos Rodeo program hosted the Olds College Fall Rodeo, presented by Lincoln County Oilfield Services on the Olds College campus.

The Brawn Family Arena saw an influx of fans this weekend for the first time in two years as the Broncos Rodeo program hosted the Olds College Fall Rodeo, presented by Lincoln County Oilfield Services on the Olds College campus. Collegiate and club rodeo programs from three provinces were in attendance as spectators got to see riders from Northern Lights College (Dawson Creek, BC), Lakeland College (Vermilion, AB), Red Deer Polytechnic (Red Deer, AB), the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, SK), the Central Alberta Rodeo Association (Edmonton, AB), the Southern AB Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (Calgary, AB) and their very own Olds College compete for the first time since th Covid-19 shutdown.
The Broncos followed up their strong showing at the Lakeland Fall Classic last weekend by once again placing near the top of the leaderboard in front of a sell out crowd for Saturday night's performance. In the Barrel Racing, the Broncos had two top 10 finishes with Jaycee Palmer placing 5th and Emily Lehr finishing 9th out of 87 entries. Kassidy Butler of Red Deer County, AB finished 9th out of 55 entries in the Pole Bending event while Cassidy Maffenbeier of Hoosier, SK wrapped up the women's strong showing with a 3rd place finish in the goat tying event.
Jaret Cooper and Denton Dunham came in to their respective events as the guys to beat after solid results in Vermilion the previous weekend and neither disappointed as Cooper placed 5th in the Tie Down Roping event while Denton Dunham teamed up with Logan Groves of Lakeland College to finish in 1st place in the Team Roping event Saturday. Isaak Kehoe and Cade James also finished 4th in Team Roping.
Sunday brought more rodeo action to the Olds College campus with even more finishes near the top by the Broncos. The Sunday Barrel Racing event saw Emily Lehr take 6th place and Jaycee Palmer finished 8th. Kassidy Butler improved on her 9th place finish on Saturday in Pole Bending with a 6th place result on Sunday. In the Goat Tying Event, Cassidy Maffenbeier placed 4th on Sunday after a 3rd place finish on Saturday.
Following up on their strong Sunday at the Lakeland Fall Classic, Denton Dunham, Garrett Cullum, and Jaret Cooper once again finished at the top or near the top of the leaderboard. Denton Dunham finished 1st in both the Tie Down Roping and Team Roping while Garrett Cullum finished 2nd in the Steer Wrestling event and Jaret Cooper placed 2/3rd in the Sunday Saddle Bronc event.
