NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATIONSeptember 30 marked the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Therefore, we pause to reflect on the nature of Truth and Reconciliation, and the truth is that words alone aren't enough for full reconciliation to occur, nor is it sufficient for conversations to happen for one day or one week in a year. It will take dedicated work for generations for proper healing to happen, and it must be accomplished through action. On Wednesday, we had the privilege of listening to men's volleyball Bronco Phillip Sutherland from Manitoba's Peguis First Nation speak briefly on the impact of residential schools on Indigenous people, as well as what the ideas of Truth and Reconciliation mean to him. We are thankful to have the opportunity to learn, and we must continue to educate ourselves in order to start finding a way forward. | |||||
