Standout Broncos Player Earns ACAC All-Conference Recognition
With the 2024-25 soccer season complete, one Olds College Broncos soccer player earned individual hardware for their play and achievements when the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) announced its All-Conference selections for men's and women's soccer on Oct. 24, 2024.
The recognized Bronco athlete was Delanie Berrette who was selected as the South Women's All-Conference Goaltender! Delanie is a second-year goalkeeper from Calgary who is currently enrolled in Business Management.
The ACAC All-Conference players are chosen by conference coaches through a ranking system that takes into account factors such as statistical performance, impact on team success, skill level and consistency throughout the season.
Berrette's impressive performance amongst 10 games led her to finish second in the south conference for total saves with 85 overall. This and one shutout game led to her 0.733% save percentage for the season. The Broncos goalkeeper's impact reached beyond her stat line, as she made an impact on her entire team as noted by her coach.
"Delanie Berrette has made an extraordinary impact on our team this season, especially as a newcomer," says Allan Siwela, Broncos Women's Soccer Head Coach. Although she is new to our program, she is no stranger to the league. As a transfer student athlete, her ability to adapt quickly and perform under pressure has been remarkable. She not only brings skill and agility to the goalkeeper position, but also a refreshing competitive energy and camaraderie that has uplifted the entire squad. Being named the ACAC All-Conference South Goalkeeper is well-deserved and a testament to her hard work and determination. We're incredibly proud of her achievements this season."
Join us in congratulating Berrette on her significant achievements, especially as a first-year Bronco! For more information on the Olds College Broncos, please visit GoBroncos.ca, or follow the Broncos across social media @oldsbroncos.
