Bio

Originally from Prince George, B.C., Graham Walkey brings a diverse background of high-level playing and coaching experience to the Olds College Broncos women’s volleyball program, where he now serves as head coach.

Walkey played volleyball at College Heights Secondary, Team BC, and with the PGYVC Kodiaks before moving on to the collegiate level. As a setter, he competed for two years at Columbia Bible College and three years at the University of the Fraser Valley from 2017 to 2022. During his playing career, he was named the 2017 BC North-Central Zone Athlete of the Year, a BC Provincial All-Star, and a PacWest All-Rookie Team selection.

He began coaching while still a student-athlete, leading beach volleyball programs and summer camps before stepping into formal team coaching roles. His résumé includes coaching positions with Jr Cascades Volleyball Club, Team BC and Team Alberta U16 boys, and assistant roles with Columbia Bible College, UFV, and the University of Alberta Golden Bears. In 2024, he helped guide the Golden Bears to both a Canada West and U Sports national championship as an assistant coach.

Walkey holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and History, and is currently completing his Master of Coaching at the University of Alberta. He relocated to Central Alberta with his wife to begin his head coaching career at Olds College.

Outside of volleyball, Walkey plays disc golf competitively, has played volleyball in five countries across three continents, and plays seven musical instruments. He also enjoys spending time with his cat, Angus, and his dog, Mac.
