CALGARY, Alta. - The Olds College Broncos just couldn't find a way forward, falling to the Ambrose University Lions in straight sets in Calgary on Friday.

Jailyn Bayle (Calgary, Alta.) had her strongest game of the season for the Broncos (0-5), leading all attackers with eight kills to go with four digs, while Janeen Pellatt (Yorkton, Sask.) added four kills, and Samantha Laboucan (Atikameg, Alta.) had three of her own.

For Ambrose (4-2), Willow Lewington led the way with seven kills and three aces, while Ali Leskow added six for the Lions. Madeline Williscroft posted a strong stat for Ambrose as well, finishing with five kills, three aces, and seven digs.

Ambrose came out flying in the first set, jumping out to an early 10-3 lead. Olds College battled back to make it interesting at 17-16, though Ambrose pushed forward to take the opening set 25-20.

The second set was a near mirror image of the first, as the Lions again stormed out to a 10-3 lead, though the Broncos were unable to claw back into it as they fell 25-16.

The final set was considerably tighter, as the Broncos held a 12-10 lead midway through the frame. However, the Lions went on a run immediately thereafter, taking control en route to a 25-20 victory to finish off the match.

Clara Serrano (Calgary, Alta.) was named the player of the game for the Broncos, as the third-year libero posted 10 digs.

The Lions and Broncos will face off again tomorrow, this time at the Ralph Klein Centre at 6 p.m.
