Broncos unveil brand evolution
It's a new era for the Olds College Broncos, who will sport a new logo moving forward, along with an array of blues and greens in their uniforms.
The Olds College Broncos are set to embark on a new era.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, the Broncos officially revealed an updated brand that will be used to represent Olds College athletics teams this year and into the future. The new look is reflected on a wide variety of team assets, including new uniforms for basketball, women's hockey, rodeo, soccer and volleyball teams, which account for approximately 160 student-athletes.
The Broncos' new blue and green colour scheme is a departure from the historical crimson, gold and black scheme which had been in place for more than a decade. The change was made, in part, to align with the overall brand of Olds College of Agriculture & Technology that was reimagined and launched in 2022.
"As we unveil the rebranded Olds College Broncos, we are honouring our deep-rooted history of sport in our community and campus, as well as setting the stage for an exciting future," says Trina Radcliffe, Senior Manager, Athletics and Wellness. "We strive for excellence in everything we do in the classroom, in the community and in our athletics, and the 2024-2025 student-athletes will have the opportunity to make a bold statement with an incredible spirit that is represented in our new brand."

This initiative reflects our commitment to honouring our storied past while positioning ourselves for new achievements. We look forward to this new chapter, which blends tradition with renewed energy and ambition."
The new logo was developed by Olds College's Marketing and Communications department. It features a white horse's head as an homage to the Indigenous cultures whose land Olds College occupies and as a connection to myth and legend where they are used as symbols of strength and courage. The wordmark uses the same typeface as the Olds College logo, but with a heavier weight and italicized style to create the impression of movement and sport. Some characters are sliced and angular to create a fierceness and sense of motion.
Olds College staff, students and athletes saw the new brand for the first time on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the Broncos brand launch event on campus. Athletes were gifted a new backpack filled with branded items to kick-off the new year on campus.
Fans will get their first look at the new-look Broncos in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 as the Broncos soccer teams will play the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens and Kings in their home opener at Richardson Pioneer Field. Opening kickoff for the women's match is set for noon, followed by the men's match at 2 p.m.
