Broncos and Trojans Tie 1-1

Olds College and SAIT Soccer Athletes compete for ball on soccer field

Olds, AB 

Today marked the last regular season and last home game for the Broncos. The start of the match included a moment of silence to honour and recognize the passing of Broncos Badminton Coach Gokarn Ramdanhi. The athletes took to the field, laid flowers at centre and paid their respects before starting the match. 

It was a wet, cold and very windy start to the game at Olds College. The Broncos took on an undefeated Trojans who had held a perfect record going into today's game. Olds College took an early lead with a goal from Alan Attokkaran before the Trojans equalised through a goal from Matteo Zanin before half time. The score going into halftime was 1-1 with Parys Ona McAurther holding his ground in net for the Broncos. 

The second half ended with the Trojans continuing to put lots of pressure on the Broncos goal but the game finished 1-1 with both teams ending their final game of the regular season with a draw. The Broncos finish their season off with a draw against the regular season champions inflicting their only dropped points of the season. The Trojans finish with a draw at Olds College leaving them undefeated for the regular season.

The player of the game for the SAIT Trojans was number 5 Senay Halie and the Broncos player of the game was number 4 Valentin Kirchner

Olds College Broncos also recognized its graduating student-athletes at the end of the match. Those who were recognized included Luiz Pedro Guimaraes, Jackson Schulz-Kingsley, Nigel Stebanuk, Parys Ona McAurthur, Aaron Hoey, Alan Attokkaran, Alexander Ewanchuk, Armando RodriguezDiaz, Christopher Gaytan, Jose Perez, Kyle Duffy and Tyler Lagarde. All who will be completing their study of choice this academic year. 

The men's Broncos soccer team will now move on to play their first ever playoff game this Friday against Medicine Hat which will be located at Sait this Friday.
