Broncos dominate Ambrose on Saturday evening

On Saturday evening at the Ralph Klein Center the Olds College Broncos (11-5) dominated in all facets of the game to pick up a 106-45 win over the Ambrose Lions (1-16).

Brittney Thibeaux added to her impressive 2017-18 resume, leading her team with 38 points, while picking up 13 rebounds for yet another double-double. Thibeaux went 16-20 from the field in the game. Alice-Fay Pitts also contributed with an impressive 18 point, 13 rebound game. Pitts also finished just one assist short of a triple-double.

The Broncos started off the game in defensive-shutdown mode, holding the Lions to just two points in the first five minutes of the game preventing high-quality shots. Shooting just 1-12 from the floor, the Lions took a timeout.

After the first quarter the Broncos had accumulated a 23-8 lead, led by Alice-Fay Pitts who shot 4-5 in the quarter with 10 points.

The Broncos continued the onslaught in the second quarter, picking up their offense to score 33 second frame points.

Broncos forward Brittney Thibeaux was just one rebound shy of a first half double-double, scoring 20 points to go along with nine boards. Pitts finished the half with 16 points.

The Lions shot just 29% from the field in the first half, and trailed the Broncos 56-24  going into the second half.

The Broncos continued their strong play into the second half, again scoring 33 points in the third quarter to lead 89-36.

The Lions had no answer for Thibeaux under the hoop, and after placing more bodies down low to defend, Michaela Allen-Gullion and Madison Simmonds were left open to reek havoc from the three point line.

The Broncos would cruise to the finish line, scoring 17 points in the final quarter to pick up the win.
