Broncos Women’s Basketball let lead slip away in final minutes

Olds, AB 

 Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Queens take the win in the final minutes over the Broncos with a score of 74-69 on November 20, 2021.

The Broncos started strong in the first quarter with 24 points to the Queens 11 points. Ali Taylor and Mackenzie Hooson for the Broncos contribute a combined 13 of the 24 points. Amy Szymanek from the Queens has a strong first quarter with two points and 3 offensive rebounds. 

A tight second quarter with Broncos scoring 10 points and the Queens 11. Queens number 14, Heena Sindu with 2 points and three rebounds. Hooson with 2 points and 2 offensive rebounds. The score headed into the half was 34-22. 

The Queens picked up the pace in the third scoring 30 points with Lauren France, Heena Sindu and Amy Szymanek a combined 18 points. While Hooson and Taylor scored a combined 11 points to see the score tied at 52-52 at the end of the third quarter. 

The fourth quarter the Broncos fought hard but came up short in the last two minutes. Turn overs from the Broncos allowed the Queens to take the lead by just 5 points. 

The player of the game for the RDP Queens was number 14, Heena Sindu and player of the game for the Broncos was number 10, Mackenzie Hooson
