Broncos Women’s Basketball fall to Lethbridge Kodiaks

Olds, AB 

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks take the win over the Olds College Broncos with a score of 71-50 on November 27, 2021 at the Ralph Klein Centre. 

The Broncos and Kodiaks both had a strong start and a close first quarter seeing the Kodiaks only leading by two points after the 10 minutes. The Kodiaks Matlin Jacobs and Courtney Deemter contributed 14 of the 21 points for Lethbridge. The Broncos Dana Walcott, Ameila Furst and Mackie Hooson all had a great first quarter as the Broncos led the Kodiaks in bot offensive and defensive rebounds. 

Both the Broncos and the Kodiaks scored 12 points in the second quarter with the score leading into halftime being 33-31. Naomi Rowe and Ameila Furst scored 7 of the 12 points for the Broncos while the Kodiaks Montana Berezay and Brinna Jacobs scored 10 of their 12 points. 

The second half of the game is where the Olds College Broncos struggle to score, only scoring 12 points in the third quarter while the Kodiaks scored 20. Kristen Barwegen had a great quarter for the Kodiaks with 4 points and 5 rebounds. The score leading into the fourth quarter was 53-43. 

The fourth and final quarter the Broncos struggled to maintain the scoring gap and the Kodiaks were able to score 18 points versus the Broncos 7. Amelia Furst, Ali Taylor, Dana Walcott and Naomi Rowe all had a strong fourth quarter for the Broncos. While Kristen Barwegen, Brinna Jacobs, Courtney Deemter and Montant Berezay were all big contributors to the Kodiaks success in the fourth. 

The player of the game for the RDP Queens was number 6, Brinna Jacobs and the Olds College Broncos Player of the game was number 24, Naomi Rowe

Catch the Broncos in the new year when they travel to Briercrest on January 14 and 15, 2021 and then back at home on January 22, 2021 as they take on the St.Mary's Lighting.
