Women's soccer Broncos look to continue winning ways

The Olds College Broncos women's soccer team is looking to maintain positive progress as they return to Richardson Pioneer Field, where they will meet the Ambrose University Lions on Saturday at noon at Richardson Pioneer Field.

The women's soccer Broncos (1-1-1) will look to build on the momentum they gained following a recent road trip in which they picked up four of a possible six points with a 1-1 draw in Lethbridge and a 3-1 win in Medicine Hat.

Tiona Paton supplied the entirety of the Broncos' scoring punch for the weekend, which earned her ACAC Female Athlete of the Week honours. The second-year forward out of Morinville has worked with rookie midfielder Mirtalem Vriend to form a dynamic attacking punch driven by speed, while Broncos head coach Allan Siwela was also particularly impressed with keeper Kaia Galuska in her last outing, in which the Lake Country, B.C. native picked up Player of the Game honours in Medicine Hat.

They return home to welcome an Ambrose squad still in search of its first goal of the season, let alone its first win, as the Lions (0-4-0) will look to rebound from a 16-0 loss at the hands of the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens in their last outing on Sept. 17.
