Broncos defeated by Trojans in home opener

The Olds College Broncos Women's Volleyball team dropped their home opener on Friday evening in Olds in straight sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-14), thanks to a barrage of blocks from the front court and multiple unforced errors from the Broncos.

The Broncos came out firing early in the contest, taking five of the first seven points. However, following a timeout, the Trojans looked like a new team, dominating for the rest of the set.

SAIT continued their dominance into the second set, getting out to a quick 7-1 lead. A timeout called by Broncos head coach Landon Thompson was unable to rally the troops, as the Trojans were a force to be reckoned with at the net, and took the second set 25-12.

The story was much of the same throughout the third set, as the Trojans took the contest, cruising to a 25-14 final set victory.

The win moves the Trojans to 1-0 on the season while the Broncos will look to regroup from their 0-1 start.

Mackenzie Morgan was named player of the game for the Broncos while Taylor Ellis took home the honour for SAIT. The two teams will be back in action Saturday evening in Calgary at 6 P.M.
