Kodiaks win second straight against Broncos

OLDS- On November 4 at the Ralph Klein Center the Lethbridge Kodiaks (6-2) picked up their second win in as many days against the Olds College Broncos (0-6), this time winning in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-23).

The Kodiaks took a stranglehold on the first set after a back and fourth start, winning three points in a row to go up 15-10, forcing a Broncos timeout. The Kodiaks continued their strong play following the timeout, taking the first set 25-20.

The Broncos came out stronger in the second set, converting more of their kill attempts to jump ahead to a 17-15 lead. The lead wouldn't last long though, as the Kodiaks would close the gap to make it a 20-20 contest.

A few points later, with the Kodiaks possessing a 24-22 lead, a hit went off a Broncos blockers hands and out of play to hand Lethbridge a chance to win the match in the third set.

Lethbridge started the third set much like the first, jumping ahead to a 15-9 start to force a Broncos timeout.

Some untimely errors down the stretch allowed the Broncos to get back into the game, coming within one point with the score 24-23. A Kristine Ward kill on the final point would spell the end of the Broncos chances, dropping the match in straight sets.

The Broncos will hit the road next weekend, visiting Briercrest, while the Kodiaks will return home to host the SAIT Trojans.
