OLDS, Alta. - ACAC goal scoring leader Sein Furuyama added another two goals to her season tally, and the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens pushed past the Olds College Broncos 4-2 in a spirited affair at Richardson Pioneer Field on Saturday.

Alisha Coules supplied the other two goals for the Queens (5-1-0), while Abby Kotyk made four saves for the victory.

For the Broncos (2-2-1), Kami Tams scored both goals, while Kaia Galuska was busy in goal, making 20 saves.

Furuyama opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finding a loose ball in the box and slotting it past Galuska to give the Queens a 1-0 lead.

However, on the very next possession, the Broncos earned a penalty, with Tams beating Kotyk cleanly to level the score at 1-1, which stood through halftime.

The tie stood until the 58th minute, when Coules got in alone on Galuska, who had just made a pair of spectacular saves in the previous sequence, and beat her to put the Queens up 2-1, which Furuyama further extended on a penalty in the 64th minute.

The Broncos drew back within one in the 71st minute after Tams converted another penalty, only for Coules to ice it for the Queens three minutes later.

Tams earned Player of the Game honours for the Broncos, while Kayla Yeo was named Player of the Game for the Queens.

Tomorrow, the Broncos head north to battle the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings (3-3-0); the Vikings currently hold the final playoff spot in the ACAC South, with the Broncos two points back with a game in hand. Meanwhile, the Queens will go south for a showdown with the SAIT Trojans (6-0-0), with a tie atop the ACAC South at stake with a Queens victory.
